Ukrainian forces consolidate in village on Kherson Oblast's left bank

Ukrainian forces continued larger-than-usual ground operations on the left (eastern) bank of Kherson Oblast on 20 October and consolidated their positions in the village of Krynky.

Details: Geolocation footage published on 19 October showed Ukrainian forces advancing to northeastern Krynky (27 kilometres east of the city of Kherson and 2 kilometres from the Dnipro River). 

Russian military bloggers claimed that Ukrainian troops were gaining ground near the village of Krynky and continued to maintain a presence near the Antonivka road and railway bridges. A popular Russian military blogger stated that Ukrainian forces had temporarily advanced further into Krynky as far as the Kozachi Laheri-Krynky-Korsunka road before Russian airstrikes pushed Ukrainian forces back to the northern outskirts of the settlement.

Another Russian military blogger claimed that battles were ongoing near Pishchanivka (14 kilometres east of Kherson and 4 kilometres from the Dnipro River) and that a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group was operating on the southern outskirts of the settlement. 

A well-known Russian military blogger suggested that as of midday on 18 October, Russian forces were only holding positions on the southern outskirts of Pishchanivka, while the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on 19 October that Russian aircraft had struck Pishchanivka, implying that Ukrainian forces were still operating in the town. 

However, ISW has not observed any other visual evidence that Ukrainian forces hold any other positions in settlements on the eastern bank of Kherson Oblast other than Krynky.
