Senior officer of Armed Forces of Ukraine to be tried for high treason

The Military Counter-intelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has exposed a Russian collaborator who was providing Russia with intelligence about the plans of the combat operations of Ukraine's defence forces in a strategically important area of the frontline.

Details: According to the investigation, the aggressor's accomplice was an official who served with one of the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine [according to the prosecutor's office, a senior officer of one of the military units – ed.]

On the instructions of the occupiers, the suspect covertly collected intelligence regarding the movement of Ukrainian troops and their replenishment with equipment and ammunition.

In addition, the traitor leaked analytical reports on the situation at the front to his Russian handlers.

During the special operation, SSU officers detained the offender on his attempt to transfer intelligence to Russia. This time he tried to inform the aggressor about the operational situation in one of the combat areas.

While searching the detainee's places of residence, law enforcement officers found communication and computer equipment that the traitor used to communicate with the invaders.

The defendant was served a notice of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law.

Law enforcers note that the detainee fully admitted his guilt.

The man was placed in pre-trial custody without bail.

The investigation team is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
