"Yesterday, the terrorist state targeted power facilities in the central region of Ukraine. The Air Defence [Forces] of Ukraine shot down the majority of Russian drones but, unfortunately, there still was a strike on a high-voltage grid", he stated.

As of Tuesday morning, nearly eight nuclear power plant power units and 10 thermal power plants work in the country’s energy system.

"Yet due to significant damage to the power system, a big deficit of power remains. Emergency power outages were implemented in 11 oblasts of Ukraine in order to support well-balanced energy system work. Repair works are ongoing but the situation remains quite complicated", Shmyhal added.

Oleksii Kuleba, the head of the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration, stated that the situation with electricity supply in Kyiv Oblast remains critical; after recent drone and missile attacks the restoration work is in progress.
