Ukrainian Armed Forces repel Russian attacks near 8 cities and villages and defeat Chechen unit in Lysychansk

Over the course of the past 24 hours, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have repelled Russian attacks in the vicinity of eight cities and villages in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts and have struck a unit of the Akhmat Battalion [a Chechen military unit - ed.] in Lysychansk.

Details: The Ukrainian Armed Forces have repelled Russian attacks in the vicinity of Yampil, Andriivka, Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Pavlivka, Vodiane and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk Oblast and Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast.

Ukrainian forces struck a unit of the Akhmat Battalion in Lysychansk, killing 30 soldiers and injuring another 15. Russia is taking great care to cover up the scale of its losses in Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces additionally carried out an attack on a cluster of Russian military equipment in Horlivka (Donetsk Oblast), destroying 5 and damaging 4 armoured combat vehicles. Up to 30 Russian soldiers get killed and 120 sustain injuries of various severity daily in the vicinity of Maiorsk (Donetsk Oblast).

Over the course of the past 24 hours, Russian forces have carried out 4 missile strikes and 24 airstrikes, as well as over 55 attacks using multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS).

Around 30 Ukrainian cities, towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Sumy and Kherson oblasts came under Russian fire.

On other fronts, the Russians continued to fire on military and civilian targets:

  • On the Sivershchyna front: Russian forces deployed mortars, tubed and rocket artillery to fire on areas in the vicinity of Hai (Chernihiv Oblast) and Stukalivka, Popivka and Vorozhba (Sumy Oblast); they additionally deployed attack UAVs;
  • On the Slobozhanshchyna front: Russian forces deployed mortars and all types of artillery at their disposal to fire on areas in and around Novoselivske, Miasozharivka, Vovchansk, Stelmakhivka, Berestove, Ohirtseve and Strilecha;
  • On the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts: Russian forces deployed various types of artillery to fire on areas in and around Serebrianka, Nevske, Makiivka, Bilohorivka, Ploshchanka, Spirne and Verkhnokamianske;
  • On the Bakhmut front: the Russians deployed tank guns, mortars and tubed and rocket artillery to fire on areas in and around Andriivka, Soledar, Yakovlivka, Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Opytne, Maiorsk, Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka and Zelenopillia;
  • On the Avdiivka front: the Russians deployed tank gun and artillery of various calibres to fire on areas in the vicinity of Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, Marinka, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar and Opytne;
  • On the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia fronts: the Russians fired on areas in and around Huliaipole, Huliaipilske, Olhivske, Dorozhnianka, Novopil, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Vremivka and Pavlivka using mortars and tubed and rocket artillery;
  • On the Pivdennyi Buh front: Russian forces fired tank guns and various types of artillery on areas in the vicinity of Blahodatne, Davydiv Brid, Dudchany, Myrne, Nova Kamianka and Pravdyne. They continued to deploy UAVs to conduct aerial reconnaissance, undertaking more than 20 sorties.

Russian occupation forces are continuing to grossly violate the laws and customs of war in their treatment of civilians. The Russians are searching for sabotage groups and artillery observers in Kakhovka (Kherson Oblast). The detainees are taken to Hornostaivka and forced to testify under torture. Similar events are unfolding in Borivske and Shchedryshcheve (Luhansk Oblast), where the Russian forces are conducting extensive searches, seizing civilians’ mobile phones, and kidnapping people and taking them to an unknown location.

Russian occupation forces dressed in plain clothes are moving into civilians’ homes in Kherson and equipping positions for conducting street battles inside. Meanwhile, Russian propaganda media are preparing to report on the alleged attacks on civilians by the Ukrainian defence forces.

Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian aircraft carried out 22 airstrikes on Russian forces, striking 20 clusters of military personnel, weapons and equipment and 2 anti-aircraft defence systems. Ukrainian air defence forces shot down 5 Russian UAVs.

Ukraine’s Rocket Forces and Artillery struck 2 Russian command points, 8 clusters of Russian military personnel, weapons and equipment, 1 ammunition storage point, 1 electronic warfare system and several other crucial military targets over the course of the past 24 hours.
