Russian occupiers abduct two officials from Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant

The Russian occupiers have abducted employees from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) once again; they detained two plant officials and took them to an unknown location on 17 October.

The abducted employees are Oleh Kostiukov, Head of the ZNPP IT Service, and Oleh Osheka, Assistant to the ZNPP Director General.
Energoatom added that their location or condition remains unknown.
The company appealed to Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the international community to take all possible measures to obtain the release of the ZNPP’s employees from captivity and facilitate their return to the performance of their duties.
Background:
- The Russian occupiers abducted Valerii Martyniuk, Deputy Head of the ZNPP, on Monday, 10 October. They are holding him in an unknown place, probably torturing and intimidating him.
- The Director General of the ZNPP, Ihor Murashov, who had previously been abducted by the Russians, will not continue working at ZNPP, reported the IAEA.
- The Russians abducted Ihor Murashov on 1 October. It was reported that his location was unknown. He was released by the Russians on 3 October.
