Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, has revealed how the Ukrainian military shot down Iranian-manufactured drones launched by Russia.

Quote from Ihnat: "First of all, let's talk about yesterday, because it has become a landmark in the use of these (Iranian-manufactured - ed.) UAVs... it's not about any special successes of the Shahid-136 kamikaze drones. Yesterday, about 10 of these UAVs were launched on the Dnipropetrovsk region and Odesa. 8 UAVs (Shahid-136 - ed.) were shot down by various units: that is, by the Air Force (6) and the Navy (2), and later the downing of a Mohajer-6 attack drone was reported, which is a completely different type of UAV, larger than the Bayraktar, and one that is armed with strike missiles, with bombs that can hit targets. These drones are now a priority.

Yesterday, the Air Force also shot down an Su-25 and a Mi-8 helicopter.

After all, they (Iranian-produced drones - ed.) are shot down by various means...

We and the whole world have witnessed how the whole of Odesa has been fired upon with all kinds of small arms, just noticing these drones - they have a relatively low speed (120 km/h), have a characteristic sound of such a loud motorcycle, so the target can be seen (and heard).

The challenge is that you have to be able to shoot it down with a large-calibre machine gun..."

Details: As the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Armed Forces noted, "the target is still visible on our radars, so if all types of weapons are used... so this is a new type of weapon, a new challenge, new ways to shoot it down."

In his opinion, rockets are still a more dangerous weapon.

Ihnat says that Ukraine was attacked by the Iranian-manufactured drones either from Crimea or from Kherson Oblast (according to the manufacturer, these UAVs can be launched from a distance of 2,000 km - ed.).

Previously:
