Russians unable to open schools in occupied Mariupol – Mayor's advisor

Russian occupiers did not open local schools in Mariupol on 1 September.

The beginning of the school year was a failure, and most of the children stayed at home.

Quote: "1 September failed in Mariupol. Not a surprise. Schools have not opened. No ‘first’ or ‘last’ bells. All children are at home."

Details: Pupils of the first and eleventh grades were still forced to come and listen to a lesson in which "they [would] be taught to love the Russian Federation."

In the lesson, propagandists explained to Mariupol schoolchildren why the Russians decided to "liberate" their city.

Andriushchenko explained what 1 September looks like in educational institutions, mentioning school No. 41:

"The building and the entrance are shut off by the military. Everyone is frisked at the entrance, even children's backpacks. There are almost no people, as well as [no] restoration [works]. The broken windows have been covered with tape," he wrote.

Earlier, the local Russian-appointed puppet governor announced that they are going to open 16 renovated schools in occupied Mariupol by 1 September.
