Germany announces additional military support for Ukraine

The German Federal Government is preparing to deliver a new shipment of hardware and weapons as part of the country’s military support for Ukraine.

Details: Germany will supply three additional GEPARD self-propelled anti-aircraft guns (bringing the total of German-supplied GEPARD guns to 15).

In addition, the list includes 11 M113 armoured personnel carriers with ammunition (bringing the total to 44).

Germany has also announced that it will deliver the following items:

  • 20 70mm rocket launchers on pick-up trucks with 2,000 rockets and laser target designators;
  • 1592 projectiles (155mm);
  • 255 Vulcano projectiles (155mm);
  • 60 200 rounds ammunition (40mm);
  • 6 lift trucks;
  • 40 frequency range extensions for anti-drone devices;
  • 12 armoured recovery vehicles;
  • 30 MG3 light machine guns for armoured recovery vehicles.

"[Due] to security concerns, the Federal Government abstains from providing details on transportation modalities and dates until after handover," the Federal Government notes.

Earlier: Die Welt has reported that over the course of the past 10 weeks, the German government has ignored Ukraine’s appeals for additional weapon supplies.

Background: On 13 July, the German Federal Government published a list of lethal and non-lethal military aid for Ukraine, which included weapons, ammunition, fuel, medical supplies, military clothing, sleeping bags, and tents, among other things.
