Details: According to the mayor, 1,356 multi-storey buildings and 40% of all private homes were destroyed or damaged due to the war in the city. Most of them cannot be rebuilt.

Experts tentatively estimate the cost of restoring infrastructure to accommodate 220,000 inhabitants at more than 14 billion dollars.

It should be noted that the final figure will be known after the damage to houses has been assessed once the occupation is lifted.

According to the mayor, the European Investment Bank and large Ukrainian businesses have already declared that they are ready to help restore Mariupol.

The city authorities are currently working with various experts from cities that were destroyed during World War II – Gdansk, Warsaw, Dresden, Rotterdam – and studying their experience in reconstruction.
