Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, about 2200 men liable for conscription have been detained at the border. The border guards continue to find bodies of men outside the checkpoints.

Details: Some of the men are known to have attempted to bribe border guards. The others use forged documents attesting that they or their children are disabled, falsely declaring that their wives are dead or increasing the numbers of their children.
Most of those trying to escape in violation of the border law try to cross the border avoiding the checkpoints, using the assistance of guides. Experience shows that the latter do not care much about their "clients’" safety. Recently, police have detained one such guide, a Moldovan citizen, who crossed the Dniester river in a small two-seater boat to pick up four men from Ukraine. Border guards have also detained them.
The police happened to discover the men's bodies on the shores of the border reservoirs. The men, who fell victim to bad weather in the Carpathian mountains, turned out to be violators of the border law.
