The situation in the regions of Ukraine as of the morning of March 7

On the night of March 7, airstrikes hit Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Mykolayiv, Zhytomyr Region was shelled, and the situation in the Kherson and Sumy regions remains difficult.

Details: As of 8.00 the situation in the regions is as follows:

Kherson

The night passed quietly. The region is currently occupied by the Russian forces. Many villages remain without electricity, gas, water, and there is a shortage of food and medical supplies. The residents need a humanitarian corridor.

Zhytomyr region

In the evening, the northern part of the region came under fire. Civil infrastructure in the cities of Ovruch, Malyn, Korosten, and Vyazivka in the Korosten district was destroyed. Air strikes hit private homes and the Employment Centre buildings, and one of the missiles exploded near the school.

Zaporizhzhia region

Personnel from the Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting a defence operation near the settlements of Huliaipole, Orikhiv and towards Vasylivka-Balabino. The towns of Polohy, Vasylivka and Tokmak are occupied by the Russian forces.

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant remains under the control of the invaders.

The city of Vinnytsia was relatively calm overnight. Air raid sirens sounded from 5:30.

Khmelnytsky region

Air raid sirens.  3 people were injured and 1 died as a result of yesterday’s strikes on Starokostiantyniv airfield

Chernihiv region

In Chernihiv, air raid sirens sounded 3 times during the night. The Russian army indiscriminately shelled residential areas and the city centre during the night. Russian forces aimed at random around the city. They hit the school and residential buildings, part of the city is now without electricity. Battles are ongoing on the outskirts of Chernihiv and in the region.

Sumy region

There were no air strikes during the night. The situation in the towns of  Okhtyrka and Trostyanets remains difficult. A large number of troops are entering the region from Russia.

Poltava region

Poltava: Air raid sirens sounded at night  in the cities of Poltava, Lubny and Pyriatyn.

Luhansk region

The night was calm, but in the morning the city of Severodonetsk was shelled with heavy artillery. The town of  Popasna has been under mass shelling for two days now. On 6 March, an evacuation train of more than 2,000 people departed the region.

Donetsk region

The cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha are under siege. The battle is ongoing. Late in the evening, the air raid siren sounded In the city of Kramatorsk.

Humanitarian cargo has already been received from the cities of Dnipro, Cherkasy and Lviv. A humanitarian corridor is needed for the Donetsk region.

Mykolayiv region

The city of Mykolaiv has been shelled with Grad multiple rocket launchers. In other parts of the region, the night was relatively calm.

Kharkiv region

Air strikes targeting apartment buildings in various parts of Kharkiv continued throughout the night.

Kyiv region

Fighting is ongoing in the direction of Makariv-Irpin-Hostomel. The air raid sirens are going off constantly. There was an air strike in the village of Byshiv, Fastiv district.

Dnipro

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, air raid sirens went off three times during the night. It is calm now.

The night was without incident in Zakarpattia, Kirovohrad, Volyn, Rivne, Cherkasy, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil and Odesa.
