Quote: "Unfortunately, when we were ready [for evacuation], forces of the Russian Federation began shelling the corridor through which people were supposed to move."
Details: According to him, the local authorities are negotiating with the occupants on ceasefire guarantees to enable evacuation.
Background: The Russian army has promised to cease fire from 9 am on 5 March and open two humanitarian corridors for civilians to leave Mariupol and Volnovakha in the direction of Zaporizhzhya.
However, the Russian side violated the agreement on the "green corridor" and began shelling. The evacuation was postponed and people were told to disperse.
