Roman Petrenko – Saturday, 5 March 2022, 12:30

Minister of Defence Oleksiy Reznikov addressed the world, asking NATO to close the sky over Ukraine.

According to Reznikov: "All of Europe understands that they are helping Ukraine because hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are risking their lives, the lives of their relatives and even their children, to prevent the enemy from invading the territories of other countries.

At the same time, NATO refuses to close the sky over Ukraine. It is not enough that civilians are being killed; that residential buildings, hospitals, maternity hospitals, and kindergartens are being target-bombed and struck by missiles; and that a European nation is being destroyed in the 21st century…

Preventative sanctions have not been put in place. The results of this hesitation can be seen unfolding on your TV screens. But you cannot observe a nuclear disaster from afar.

Your arguments concerning the refusal to enforce A2/AD [Anti-access and area denial] in order to deter nuclear war no longer hold, because Russia has already started a nuclear war. Historical lessons are difficult to learn, but we must take them into account.

If Eisenhower had supported Europe earlier in the course of WWII, the United States would never have had Pearl Harbor. If the countries of the world had introduced the sanctions which Russia faces now earlier, an all-out war would have been avoided.

Without exaggeration, the only way for us all –and I mean the whole world– to survive, is to create an A2/AD zone [in Ukraine]."

Details: Reznikov recalled the 1986 Chernobyl tragedy and mentioned that the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant has six times its capacity.

The Minister also asked the US to "listen to its people" and drew attention to the results of a poll according to which 74% of Americans stated that the US and NATO should create a no-fly zone over Ukraine.
