Ukraine presses the ICRC to obtain lists of deported Mariupol residents from Russia

Ukrainian authorities have appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross to ask Russia to provide lists of the citizens forcibly deported from Mariupol and to give them the opportunity to return to Ukraine.

According to Vereshchuk: "I would like to comment on the announcement of the planned opening of the International Red Cross office in Rostov-on-Don.

We have officially requested the president of this organisation, Peter Maurer, to ask Russia to provide lists of all our citizens whom they forcibly deported from Mariupol and to provide these people with the opportunity to return safely to Ukraine."

Background:

On 24 March, it was reported that residents of the Left Bank district of Mariupol were deported to Russia en masse, with a total of about 15,000 Mariupol residents being illegally deported.
