Russian forces have captured the settlements of Trudove and Uspenivka, completing the occupation of the final segment of the "Uspenivka pocket" [the area around the settlements of Yelyzavetivka, Romanivka, Veselyi Hai and Hannivka]. Unfortunately, not all Ukrainian troops managed to break out of the encirclement.

Details: The capture of Trudove and Uspenivka marked the final phase of the occupation of the "Uspenivka pocket". Analysts noted that not all Ukrainian units were able to escape the encirclement. According to DeepState, this issue remains the responsibility of those who allowed such a situation to occur.

Quote: "The enemy is regrouping in the occupied area and has intensified actions on the flanks of a new potential 'pocket'. Assault operations from Stari Terny towards the Shevchenko-Andriivka sector are being conducted continuously. Additional pressure is present from the side of Sontsivka, which the Russians have also recently fully occupied."

Details: The Russians are also actively attacking the area around Zelenivka, using both equipment and infantry to advance toward new strategic objectives, particularly Andriivka through Kostiantynopil.

Quote: "The Russians are actively using equipment and infantry here, deploying them as close to the line of contact as possible, where they disperse and try to entrench in the tree lines for further advancement."

Background: Analysts from the DeepState project reported on 12 December that the situation around the settlements of Yelyzavetivka, Romanivka, Veselyi Hai and Hannivka, which have found themselves inside the "Uspenivka pocket" in Donetsk Oblast, had been getting worse. The Russians are trying to break through defences from all sides to create a situation of complete encirclement of Ukrainian troops.
