Ukraine's State Special Communications Service does not confirm data leak following Russian cyberattack

The State Special Communications Service of Ukraine does not confirm the information leak following Russia's cyberattack.

Quote: "I received information from the head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection before the press conference, stating that the data leak has not been confirmed," said Stefanishyna.  

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) added that they are currently unable to confirm whether a data leak occurred.

Background:

• Ukraine had experienced the largest cyberattack on government registries in recent times. The operation of key Ministry of Justice systems has been temporarily suspended as a result of the attack conducted by Russian hackers. The hackers claimed to have destroyed all data they gained access to, including backup copies stored on servers in Poland. The state registers will be restored within two weeks.
• The largest cyberattack on Ukraine's state registers was prepared for several months, but the SSU stated that they cannot disclose details about its preparation.
• The Ministry of Justice will prioritise restoring the unified register of powers of attorney, the unified register of special forms, notarial documents, and the inheritance register, ensuring proper record-keeping and minimising potential negative consequences.
