Details: Umierov stated that the heads of defence departments discussed the current situation at the front, specifically the Pokrovsk and Kursk fronts, as well as Russia’s involvement of the DPRK's military forces in the war.
Officials also discussed additional US help for Ukraine's defence industry.
Background:
- The latest US estimate suggests that North Korea has sent about 10,000 troops to Russia to train and join the war against Ukraine.
- As highlighted by Estonian Defence Intelligence, the deployment of North Korean troops to the Ukrainian front will not bring much change for the time being, and they are likely to suffer heavy losses.
- The Ukrainian military also stated that over the last week, the Russian army occupied around 150,000 square kilometres in Donetsk Oblast.
