Quote: "We were briefed on elements of the plan when we were in Kyiv last week, and yes, we shared Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield’s [US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield] assessment. As President Zelenskyy has said, he looks forward to presenting that plan in detail to the President [Joe Biden] in the coming days and weeks, and I think we’ll await that meeting before offering any kind of further conclusions about it."
Details: Answering the question of whether there were any timelines associated with the implementation of the plan, Miller responded, "I think I ought to let President Zelenskyy, whose plan ultimately this is, speak to the details of it."
Background:
- On 16 September, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine's peace plan is 90% complete. He also noted that Ukraine plans to present this plan to its international allies next week.
- Later, the Ukrainian leader said that the plan contained four points on strengthening military support for Ukraine "plus another one that we need after the war".
- US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that the American side had already seen the new peace plan by Zelenskyy.
