They are demanding that their husbands and sons be brought home from the war in Ukraine. However, none of the women who came to the picket demanded that Russia end the war in Ukraine.

The posters read: "Please bring my dad home"; "Set terms of service for soldiers in the special military operation (as the Russian authorities call the war against Ukraine – ed.)"; "It's time for the mobilised to come home".

The police are on duty near the building of Russia's Ministry of Defence, and police cars are parked next to the protesters.

Immediately after the start of the gathering, the police approached the wives of the mobilised men and demanded that they disperse. The police then began to check the documents of the picketers.

The BBC noted that the Russian Ministry of Justice recognised the movement of wives of mobilised soldiers The Way Home as a "foreign agent" on Friday, 31 May. Members of the movement demand that their husbands be brought back from the war in Ukraine.
