Latvia will allocate 560,000 euros for purchase of generators for Ukrainian mass media
The Government of Latvia has decided to support the initiative of the Ministry of Culture to allocate 559,640 euros for unforeseen expenses for Ukrainian state mass media.
This was reported by Delfi, European Pravda informs.
The amount will be transferred to the Latvian Council of Public Electronic Mass Media (SEPLP) for the purchase of diesel generators necessary for the work of state public television and radio companies of Ukraine.
On 29 November, Oleksandr Tkachenko, the Minister of Culture of Ukraine, appealed to his colleagues in the EU countries to provide all possible support to the Ukrainian cultural sector and mass media in order to survive the winter. Ukrainian mass media especially need diesel generators.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Latvia decided to allocate almost 560,000 euros from the state budget for the purchase of generators for the needs of Ukraine.
On 29 June in Lviv, the ministries of culture of the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine signed the Lviv Declaration, which, in particular, assesses the possibility of creating a special fund to support cultural heritage and the activities of Ukrainian state media.
Earlier it was reported that Croatia will hand over 230 transformers of various capacities to Ukraine, and 50 generators provided by the country have already been delivered to different regions of Ukraine.
