Russian AWACS plane arrives in Belarus to assist in targeting

A long-range radar detection and control aircraft of the Russian Armed Forces has reached Belarus; it is designed to track air and surface targets.

Details: The plane landed at the Machulishchy airfield, Minsk Oblast at about 14:27 Kyiv time.

A-50 with the same registration number was reportedly spotted in Belarus in February 2022.

Such a long-range radar detection and control aircraft with a different registration number was spotted in the skies over Belarus on 11 July 2022.

Background: On 13 December, Belarus started to suddenly check the combat readiness of its army on the instructions of self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko; Belarus is also moving some of its military equipment closer to the border with Ukraine.
