Ukrainian Armed Forces repel Russian assaults near 12 cities, towns and villages; Russian forces target critical infrastructure – General Staff report

Over the course of the past 24 hours, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have repelled Russian assaults near 12 cities, towns and villages in Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts.

Details: The Ukrainian Armed Forces have repelled Russian attacks in the vicinity of Makiivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka (Luhansk Oblast) and Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, Bakhmut, Maiorsk, Pervomaiske, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, Pavlivka and Prechystivka (Donetsk Oblast).

Russian forces are firing on the Ukrainian Armed Forces along the line of contact, carrying out military engineering tasks to reinforce their positions on several fronts and conducting aerial reconnaissance. They are also continuing to target Ukraine’s critical infrastructure and civilian homes in violation of international humanitarian law and the norms and customs of war.

Over the course of the past 24 hours, Russian forces carried out 3 missile strikes and 24 airstrikes, as well as over 80 attacks using multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS).

More than 20 Ukrainian cities, towns and villages came under Russian fire, including Kupiansk (Kharkiv Oblast), Kremenchuk (Poltava Oblast), Nevske (Luhansk Oblast), Vodiane, Vuhledar, Krasnohorivka and Nevelske (Donetsk Oblast), Smila (Cherkasy Oblast); Nova Kamianka (Kherson Oblast) and Ternovi Pody (Mykolaiv Oblast).

There is an ongoing threat of missile strikes from the territory of Belarus, including with the use of attack UAVs.

There were no significant changes on the Volyn and Polissia fronts. The Republic of Belarus is continuing to support and aid Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine and its people. 

On other fronts, the Russians continued to fire on military and civilian targets:

  • On the Sivershchyna front: Russian forces deployed mortars and tubed artillery to fire on areas in and around Orlykivka and Muravi (Chernihiv Oblast) and Vilna Sloboda, Zapsillia and Kharkivka (Sumy Oblast);
  • On the Slobozhanshchyna front: Russian forces deployed mortars and tubed and rocket artillery to fire on areas in and around Alisivka, Ambarne, Anyskyne, Hatyshche, Hlyboke, Zelene, Kozacha Lopan, Krasne, Mala Vovcha, Morokhovets, Ohirtseve, Okhrimivka, Sosnivka, Starytsia, Strilecha and Khrypuny (Kharkiv Oblast);
  • On the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts: Russian forces deployed tank guns, mortars and tubed and rocket artillery to fire on areas in and around Berestove, Dvorichna, Kamianka, Krokhmalne and Fyholivka (Kharkiv Oblast), Hrekivka, Nevske, Ploshchanka and Sukhodil (Luhansk Oblast) and Terny and Yampolivka (Donetsk Oblast);
  • On the Bakhmut front: the Russians deployed tank guns and various types of artillery to fire on areas in and around Andriivka, Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Bilohorivka, Verkhnokamianske, Zelenopillia, Maiorsk, New-York, Opytne, Rozdolivka, Siversk, Soledar and Spirne (Donetsk Oblast);
  • On the Avdiivka front: the Russians deployed tank guns and all types of artillery to fire on areas in the vicinity of Kamianka, Marinka, Nevelske, Novomykhailivka and Pervomaiske (Donetsk Oblast);
  • On the Novopavlivka front: the Russians deployed tank guns, mortars and tubed and rocket artillery to fire on areas in and around Bohoiavlenka, Velyka Novosilka, Prechystivka, Vremivka, Vuhledar, Novopil and Pavlivka (Donetsk Oblast);
  • On the Zaporizhzhia front: Russian forces fired on areas in and around Dorozhnianka, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, Novoandriivka, Pavlivka, Stepove and Shcherbaky (Zaporizhzhia Oblast) using tanks and various types of artillery;
  • On the Pivdennyi Buh front, more than 30 cities, towns and villages situated along the line of contact came under Russian fire.

Russian occupation forces are continuing to forcibly "evacuate" residents of the temporarily occupied territories in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts, in particular those whose homes are located along the left bank of the River Dnipro between Velyka Znamianka (Zaporizhzhia Oblast) and Nova Kakhovka (Kherson Oblast).

Russian soldiers are stealing and taking away ambulances and hospital equipment in Hola Prystan and Skadovsk, in southern Ukraine.

Meanwhile, units of Russian occupation forces on the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk Oblast are continuing to use civilians as "human shields". In the city of Svatove, the Russians are deploying their units in schools and at the premises of local businesses, while local residents are being forced to continue to send their children to school despite relentless shelling.

The General Staff has confirmed Russia’s losses over the past several days: 60 Russian soldiers have been killed in Pershotravneve (Mykolaiv Oblast) and 50 in Vasylivka (Zaporizhzhia Oblast).
