The Declaration defines "the priority areas of cooperation between Ukraine and the Czech Republic" within the course of Kyiv acquiring full membership in the North Atlantic Alliance.

"With the signing of the document by Ukraine’s President and the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, the latter’s support for the prospect of Ukraine becoming a member of NATO was recorded as soon as conditions would allow," the President’s Office stated.

Besides, the Czech Republic has established, with this Declaration, its intention to continue providing Ukraine with significant military, technical, defence, and humanitarian support.

As Zelenskyy has pointed out, this is the first document that Ukraine is signing in order to accelerate its Euro-Atlantic integration. "We will work for such joint declarations to be signed by other NATO [member] countries as well," he added.

On 30 September, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine had applied for NATO membership under an accelerated procedure

Nataliia Halibarenko, Head of Ukraine’s Mission to NATO, stated that Kyiv applying for NATO membership under an accelerated procedure has meant that a discussion on this issue "became formalised".

However, while other countries, such as the Baltic States, have publicly supported Ukraine’s application, others, like the USA, stated that this was not the time for such discussions.
