Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova has said that the agreement between Ukraine and the United States on the non-use of American weapons for strikes on Russian territory applies only to HIMARS rocket artillery systems, and not to all types of weapons supplied by the U.S. government to Ukraine.

Details: The Ambassador commented on the statement of Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov about Ukraine's obligations not to use Western weapons for strikes on the territory of Russia. When asked whether the restriction applies only to HIMARS systems, or to all American weapons in general, Markarova said that "this applies specifically to HIMARS."
In August, Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov said that Ukraine had pledged not to use Western weapons on the territory of Russia, but these restrictions do not apply to temporarily occupied Crimea.
"We have agreements with the United States that we will not use weapons provided to us by the United States and partners on the territory of the Russian Federation. But today, we are talking about liberation of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, where the enemy is located. In that case, we have no such restrictions," the minister said.
Markarova also confirmed that the United States had not imposed any restrictions on Ukraine's strikes with the use of American weapons on the territory of Crimea.
