Ukrainian army repels all Russian attacks and assaults over day – General Staff report

On Friday, 19 August, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled all Russian attacks in Donbas and thwarted the breakthrough that Russian forces attempted on the administrative border between Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts.

Details: Air Force and air defence units of the Belarusian Armed Forces conducted exercises on the Volyn and Polissia fronts.

On the Sivershchyna front, Russian forces shelled civilian and military infrastructure in the vicinity of Pushkari in Chernihiv Oblast, and Myropillia and Pavlivka in Sumy Oblast, using tubed artillery.

On the Kharkiv front, Russian forces used tubed and rocket artillery to fire on civilian infrastructure in and around Kharkiv, Protopopivka, Petrivka, Slatyne, Velyki Prokhody, Korobochkyne, Milova and Husarivka.

In addition, the Russians carried out airstrikes near Staryi Saltiv and Yavirske and are using UAVs to conduct aerial reconnaissance on the Kharkiv front.

They also attempted to improve their tactical positions near Pytomnyk, but were repelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and retreated.

They remotely delivered mines to areas around Staryi Saltiv and Verkhnii Saltiv.

On the Sloviansk front, Russian forces fired using tank guns as well as tubed and rocket artillery on areas in the vicinity of Dibrivne, Virnopillia, Chepil and Bohorodychne.

The Russians attempted to break through the defences of Ukrainian troops near Karnaukhivka, Dibrivne, Virnopillia and Dolyna, but they suffered losses and were forced to flee.

Russian troops fired on areas near Siversk, Hryhorivka, Berestove and Ivano-Dar’ivka on the Kramatorsk front.

They also carried out offensive and assault operations near Vyimka and Ivano-Dar’ivka but were decisively repelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and retreated without making any gains.

On the Bakhmut front, Russian forces used tank guns, as well as tubed and rocket artillery to fire on areas in and around seven towns and villages and carried out airstrikes near Soledar and Yakovlivka.

The Russians conducted offensive and assault operations in the vicinity of Bakhmut, Soledar, Kodema, Bakhmutske and Zaitseve, but were unaable to make any gains and were forced to retreat.

Eight towns and villages came under the Russian fire on the Avdiivka front. In addition, Russian aircraft conducted airstrikes near Novoselivka Druha and Nevelske. Russian occupying forces carried out offensive operations near Opytne, Pisky and Maiorsk, but failed and retreated.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled a Russian troops’ attempt to improve their tactical positions; the invaders suffered losses and retreated.

On the Zaporizhzhia front, the Russians fired on nine towns and villages using tubed and rocket artillery, as well as tank guns; they also carried out airstrikes near Shcherbaky, Dorozhnianka and Novosilka.

On the Pivdennyi Buh front, Russian troops are focusing their efforts on replenishing losses and preventing the Ukrainian forces from advancing. They continued to use tank guns and various types of artillery to fire on the positions of Ukrainian troops along the entire line of contact, and carried out airstrikes near Mykolaivske, Nove Zhyttia, Pervomaiske, Bila Krynytsia and Lozove.

Russian troops carried out assault operations in an attempt to break through the Ukrainian defences near Kirove, but suffered losses under Ukrainian fire and retreated in disarray.
