Occupational authorities not ready to name the date for sham referendum

The Russian occupational authorities have so far refused to name the date of the so-called "referendum" in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Quote: "The date will be set as soon as we are certain that security, freedom of expression and transparency of results are guaranteed in the region."

Details: The Russian occupational authorities added that they would name the date of the referendum when "all these three principles would be put into practice".

Background:

• On 8 August, Yevhen Balytskyi, Russian-appointed puppet leader of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, announced that he had signed an order to start preparations for a "referendum" on "joining" Russia.
• According to the National Resistance Centre, Russian occupying authorities plan to organise sham referendums on the creation of pseudo republics on the Russian-occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts on 11 September.
