SATURDAY, 23 JULY 2022, 14:03 - OLEKSII PAVLYSH

The Russians hit the sea port of Odesa exactly where the grain was stored.

This was stated by Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the live national 24-hour newscast.

"Actually, two (missiles - ed.) were shot down, two hit the port infrastructure. It is clear why all this is being done.

In the context of what is happening today with Ukrainian grain, the blow was struck exactly where the grain is. We can see what these agreements with the terrorist country are worth," Ihnat said.

The press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy also confirmed to the Ukrainian media outlet Suspilne that there was grain in the port.

"I won't say how much, because the Ministry of Infrastructure deals with capacity, so it's up to them. We were expecting the first shipments to leave tomorrow or the day after tomorrow," the ministry said.

Reminder:

Russian forces fired missiles on the sea port of Odesa - 2 missiles were shot down by the air defence forces, and 2 more hit the port's infrastructure facilities.

Russia attacked the port of Odesa the day after the signing of the grain agreement - an agreement on unblocking Ukrainian ports for grain exports was signed on 22 July in Istanbul.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has responded to the strikes on Odesa.

According to Oleh Nikolenko, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukraine is calling on the UN and Turkey to ensure that Russia complies with its obligations with respect to the safe functioning of the grain corridor.
