Luhansk Region: Russians lead unsuccessful assault on Bobrove and Ustynivka - Head of Military Administration
Russian troops have continued to storm Sievierodonetsk, and led an unsuccessful assault on Bobrove and Ustynivka; 52 houses were damaged during the day in the Luhansk region.
Source: Serhii Haidai, head of the Luhansk Oblast Military Administration, on the morning of 2 June.
Quote from Haidai: "Our troops are holding back the enemy, so it continues to destroy the infrastructure and industry of Sievierodonetsk.
The Russians are doing everything they can so that they can then claim there is no possibility of reconstruction. They have not invested a penny on the reconstruction of the part of Luhansk Oblast they have occupied for eight years and are not going to do so now. That is why they are destroying it.
Yesterday morning they targeted the Azot chemical plant several times. They hit one of the administrative buildings and a warehouse where methanol was stored.
In Lysychansk they damaged the building of the city hospital. They do not want schools, hospitals, factories and jobs there. Unfortunately, not everyone has understood this yet. The Russians are simply destroying and looting our region. With malice, because they themselves, sitting on a gas pipe, have almost none of the things at home which for a Ukrainian are an everyday reality.
Details: In the last 24 hours, 52 more homes have been damaged in the Luhansk region. That means more than 50 more families, and with high-rise buildings included, many more, have been left homeless, Haidai said.
According to him, "50-60 homes are lost every day" in the oblast, and in the villages and settlements that the Russians are storming, "housing is burning down through the streets".
On 1 June, Russian troops damaged 16 houses in Hirske, 15 in Lysychansk, nine in Vrubovka, six in Sievierodonetsk, four in Novodruzhesk and two in Mykolayivka.
Quote from Haidai: "The enemy continues to storm Sievierodonetsk. Supported by mortars, it conducted an unsuccessful assault on the settlements of Bobrove and Ustynivka.
Thirteen enemy attacks were repelled, and two tanks, six artillery systems, eight armoured fighting vehicles and four enemy vehicles were destroyed. Air defence units shot down seven Orlan 10 UAVs.
Previously: The American Institute for War Research suggested that Russian forces have been trying to advance into Lysychansk from the south and west, avoiding crossing the Siverskyi Donets river from Sievierodonetsk, i.e. from the north-east.
