ROMAN PETRENKO - FRIDAY, 22 APRIL 2022, 11:52

The Russians refuse to open an evacuation corridor for civilians, but instead provide corridors for the military to surrender, pretending it is the same thing, said Iryna Vereshchuk, Head of the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories.

Quote: "There are military personnel and about 1,000 civilians in the Azovstal factory.

Some corridors have been set up for surrender. The Russians have provided one of these, but we don't need it. Because our military does not want to surrender to them.

Some corridors are humanitarian, for the evacuation of civilians from the combat zone. We need such a corridor from Azovstal to evacuate women, children and the elderly.

The Russians refuse to open a corridor for civilians, cynically pretending that they do not understand the difference between a corridor for the capture of servicemen and a humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of civilians.

Spokespersons for the Russian officials do not hesitate to tell lies that a humanitarian corridor has been provided, but claim that for some reason our civilians do not want to use it."

Details: Vereshchuk explained that the Russians are afraid to storm Azovstal, but they are not releasing civilians from Azovstal, thereby trying to put pressure on the [Ukrainian - ed.] military.
