US President Joe Biden has visited the National Stadium in Warsaw, where he met refugees from Ukraine and volunteers.

This was reported by "Evropeyskaya Pravda" with reference to Onet.pl.

The US President was accompanied by the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, and the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Tschaskowski. Biden was also accompanied by American-Spanish chef Jose Andres, who, together with his charity organisation World Central Kitchen, is helping refugees from Ukraine, in particular by running a field kitchen at the border crossing in Medyka.

After meeting the refugees, Biden told reporters that "these people just want to hug me and say thank you."

"Each of these children said something like, 'Pray for my dad, my brother, my grandfather, because they're fighting there,'" Biden said. He added that he knows what it's like to have someone close to you in a combat zone. "Every morning you get up, think about them, and pray to get the news".

About the Ukrainians he met at the National Stadium, the American president said that "these are wonderful people".

Seeing what he did with the people he met at the stadium, journalists also asked the US president what he thought of the Russian president.

Biden replied: "He's a butcher".

Background: during his visit to Warsaw, Joe Biden also met the heads of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defence, during which he guaranteed that US support would be maintained until Ukraine's victory.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, hinted at an agreement reached on "concrete steps" to reduce the number of Russian missiles hitting facilities in Ukraine.
