According to the City Council: "As of today, the terrorist bombing by the Russian planes of the children’s hospital in Mariupol has wounded 17 people (children, women, and doctors) and killed three, including a young girl."
Background:
- The Russian military deliberately and ruthlessly targets civilians in Mariupol.
- Around 16:30 on 9 March, Russian planes dropped several powerful bombs on the children’s and maternity hospital in Mariupol. Some hospital buildings were razed to the ground. At least 17 people have been wounded, including pregnant women.
- Mayor of Mariupol Volodymyr Boychenko declared this an act of genocide perpetrated by the Russian occupiers. He said that he hoped that the perpetrators involved in the airstrike on the maternity hospital would receive the severest punishments in international courts.
- A number of Russian state propaganda figures are trying to justify the bombing through contradictory fake information.
