Zelenskyy awards fallen F-16 pilot Pavlo Ivanov title of Hero of Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to the fallen F-16 pilot Pavlo Ivanov.

Quote: "For personal courage and heroism in the defence of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless service to the Ukrainian people, I hereby decree:

To award the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star to Pavlo Ivanov, Major (posthumously)."

Background:

• On Saturday, 12 April, 26-year-old pilot Pavlo Ivanov was killed while flying an F-16 combat mission.
• Zelenskyy noted that he had heard reports from the military on this combat situation, and all the circumstances of the incident were being investigated.
