Quote: "Russia itself has killed a lot of the Russians. A lot of conscripted Russian soldiers were killed by the Russian army itself because they were afraid to go forward, to advance, to be killed under bullet fire, or to be wounded.

They ran back and were killed by their own army... They [Russia – ed.] do not count the numbers. You know that they have about 650,000 casualties. Killed and wounded."

Details: Zelenskyy said that Russia was not removing its dead soldiers from the battlefield. Speaking about the situation at the front, Zelenskyy said that in Ukraine’s east, Russia is "pushing" its soldiers through a meat grinder, using them as cannon fodder, and "throwing their piles of corpses at us".

In addition, Zelenskyy noted that after the Kursk operation, Ukrainian forces saw that Russia continued to strike even on its own territory and kill its civilians who remained in Kursk Oblast.

Background: On 28 October, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russia had lost 1,680 soldiers killed and wounded, seven tanks, 51 artillery systems and 40 armoured combat vehicles over the past day. In total, Russia has lost over 690,000 soldiers killed and wounded since February 2022.
