Negotiations about coal supplies from Donbas are underway with potential buyers from China, India, Iran, Uzbekistan and Malaysia, CEO Oleg Knyazev has confirmed.

A source of RBC familiar with Donskoy Ugol’s plans says exports may go through the port of the temporarily occupied city of Mariupol and the Russian ports of Taganrog and Rostov-on-Don, as well as by rail via Azerbaijan and Iran.

Background:

  • Stiron B.V., a Dutch company which bought coal from the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, has invested €10 million in Telegram Open Network (TON), the block chain platform owned by Russian entrepreneur Pavel Durov.
  • The Taiwan Cement Corporation (TCC) has refused to buy coal in Russia.
