Belgorod Oblast governor admits Ukrainian Armed Forces were in village of Poroz

Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Russiaʼs Belgorod Oblast, has said that the Ukrainian military had forcibly detained two residents of the village of Poroz in that oblast. A video from Poroz depicting soldiers of Ukraine's defence forces had previously appeared online.

Quote: "Two of our residents of the village of Poroz, Graivoron City District, were forcibly detained by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Now they are okay; they are alive, healthy and with their families.

We met with one of the families and talked to their relatives."

Details: The governor published a video of the meeting with the villagers.

At the same time, Gladkov did not mention anything about the presence or absence of the Ukrainian defence forces in Poroz.

  • On Saturday, 10 August, a video was shared on social media showing Ukrainian soldiers claiming to be present in the Russian village of Poroz, Belgorod Oblast.

  • At the same time, Vyacheslav Gladkov noted that law enforcement officials would investigate the situation in Poroz. However, the entrance to the village was closed as part of the "counter-terrorism operation (CTO) regime" imposed in the region.
  • The counter-terrorism operation regime was imposed on the night of 9-10 August in Russia's Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod oblasts.
