Russian airstrike hits residential area in Mykolaiv, killing 3 civilians and injuring 24

Russian forces have launched an airstrike on a residential area in the city of Mykolaiv, claiming the lives of three civilians. Twenty-four more people were injured, including four children.

Details: At 16:42, Ukraine's Air Force reported a threat of airstrikes in the southeast. Half an hour later, the Ukrainian military noted that a missile had been launched on Mykolaiv Oblast, stressing that "Mykolaiv should take cover immediately".

At 17:17, Sienkevych said an explosion had been heard in Mykolaiv. He later reported that a missile had hit a residential area. Kim said ambulances were on the way to the scene.

The mayor of Mykolaiv later reported: "Sadly, a civilian has been killed." 

Later, the Mykolaiv mayor added that "three people, including a child, are known to have been killed" in the attack.

Sienkevych said that as of 21:54, 14 victims had been identified, including 4 children.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that three persons (including one child) had been killed in Mykolaiv as of 21:20. Fifteen people were also hurt (including four children, eight of whom were hospitalised).

In addition, eight apartment buildings and a kindergarten were damaged.

Kim reported at 07:18 on 20 July that the number of injured had risen to 24.

Quote from Kim: "[A total of] 24 people have been injured, including four children. Medical assistance has been provided on an outpatient basis to nine adults and two children. Currently, two adults and two children have been admitted to medical facilities. 

The blast wave and debris have damaged nine apartment buildings, a kindergarten and cars."
