Polish aircraft scrambled during Russian attack on Ukraine

Polish and allied fighter aircraft were scrambled due to a Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine.

Quote: "Be advised that Polish and allied aircraft are flying in Polish airspace, which may lead to increased noise levels, especially in the southeastern part of the country.

Intense activity of the Russians has been observed this evening, related to the launch of missiles, Shahed drones and ballistic weapons on facilities located on the territory of Ukraine."

Details: Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces noted that the latest activity of Russian aircraft, when strikes were launched on Ukraine’s west, was recorded on the night of 31 May 31-1 June 2024. 

Later, Operational Command reported that the air operation had ended due to a "reduction in the level of threat of missile strikes by Russian aircraft on areas bordering our territory."

"This night was very tense for the entire Polish air defence system, as a Russian large-scale missile attack covered the entire territory of Ukraine, including regions bordering Poland," the statement said.

Operational Command emphasised that the Polish military "is continuously monitoring the situation on Ukrainian territory and is on constant combat alert to ensure the security of Polish airspace."
