War correspondent from FREEDOM media outlet killed in Donetsk Oblast

Anastasiia Volkova, a war correspondent for the Ukrainian broadcaster FREEDOM, was killed in Sloviansk, Donetsk Oblast, on 30 May. She was 31.

Details: Anastasiia worked in the hottest spots of Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts. She was very dedicated to her work and had no intention of moving to a safer place.

She grew up in Luhansk and dreamed of being the first Ukrainian journalist to report from the liberated city.

Anastasiia had been working as a war correspondent for Ukrainian state broadcasting channels since 2018.

She was awarded the Order of Merit, third class, in June 2022.

According to sources of the Institute of Mass Information, a Ukrainian NGO, Anastasiia died in a car accident.

The editorial board of Ukrainska Pravda expresses its sincere condolences to Anastasiia's family and colleagues.
