Quote from Biden: "Today, members of both parties in the House voted to advance our national security interests and send a clear message about the power of American leadership on the world stage."
Details: Biden stressed that lawmakers showed unity, defending the interests of the United States in the world.
"At this critical inflection point, they came together to answer history’s call, passing urgently-needed national security legislation that I have fought for months to secure," Biden said in a statement.
The US president called on the Senate to quickly vote on the bill and "to quickly send this package to my desk so that I can sign it into law, and we can quickly send weapons and equipment to Ukraine to meet their urgent battlefield needs."
Part of the legislation adopted by the House of Representatives includes an aid package for Ukraine worth more than US$60 billion, with the total package amounting to about US$95 billion for assistance to Ukraine, Taiwan, Israel and humanitarian aid to residents of the Gaza Strip.
Of the total US$60.8 billion for Ukraine's security, about US$23 billion will be used to replenish US weapons, stockpiles and facilities, and more than $11 billion will be used to finance the ongoing US military operations.
