Biden considers current events in the world to be inflection point
US President Joe Biden believes that current events in the world, in particular Russia's war against Ukraine, are part of an inflection point in history when it is necessary to strengthen alliances and relations with partners.
Source: White House, citing John Kirby, Strategic Communications Coordinator of the White House National Security Council.
Quote from Kirby: "The President describes this time that we’re living in as an inflection point, and he’s right. I mean, you look all around the world, and one of the things that’s a common thread is democracy under threat."
Details: Kirby said this when asked how the foreign policy of the United States could be characterised in the Biden administration at the current stage, including in relation to the situation in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.
A White House representative clarified that the threats to democracy are of different nature: "The President believes in a foreign policy that bolsters our allies and partners, that builds on alliances and partnerships, that recognizes that the United States can’t do it all alone, but that our leadership is vital and important to solving some of these problems."
Kirby expressed confidence that the foreign policy of the United States will remain as active as it has been during the previous three years of the Biden administration.
