US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink believes that the war is giving Ukraine an opportunity for more rapid integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions.

Details: The ambassador noted that the war unleashed on Ukraine by Russia is a "senseless tragedy and a crime against humanity".

Quote: "But we all know that in dark times, there are also incredible opportunities. I see these opportunities for Ukraine, for all of us – this is an opportunity for transformation that opened up on the day Ukraine’s independence was declared. From our point of view, this war gives us the opportunity to strengthen the movement towards integration into Euroatlantic institutions, which will be faster than it would otherwise have been, and to build on these opportunities for the future you dream of."

Brink explained that this means a hundred percent of Ukraine’s population must have the opportunity, the ability and the courage to use all their talents and abilities in pursuit of this goal.

She remarked that the US is ready to help Ukrainian women to participate equally in economic and political life along the way to the future chosen by the people of Ukraine.

"Ukraine is undergoing a historic transformation right now, and we will continue to stand by your side and help you make it a reality," Brink assured Ukrainians.

Background: A survey published at the end of October shows that if a referendum on NATO membership were held in Ukraine right now, it would be supported by almost 80% of Ukrainians.

According to another survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology and commissioned by the EU Advisory Mission, 65% of Ukrainians trust the EU and 59% trust NATO.
