There are also records of attempts to illegally cross the border at checkpoints, with people trying to use forged documents. A total of about 6,200 such individuals have been exposed since 24 February last year."

Details: Most of the attempts to cross the border through green areas were recorded on the border with Romania and Moldova.

Demchenko says that anyone who uses forged documents and tries to bribe Border Service employees is handed over to the police. Those who attempt to cross the border in green areas are liable under the Code of Administrative Offences. They are reported to law enforcement agencies.

Law enforcement officers have exposed 220 criminal gangs engaged in smuggling people across the border since the start of the full-scale invasion.
