Quote: "Great news from our friends in the United States! There is a green light for the Netherlands and Denmark to deliver F-16s to Ukraine after our pilots complete their training.
Ukraine has proven that the impossible is indeed possible. Our military has proven it is [full of] fast learners.
We will soon prove that Ukraine’s victory is inevitable. Thank you to all our partners and friends in the United States, the Netherlands, and Denmark."
Earlier: The United States has approved the transfer of instructional materials for F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine at Denmark’s request. This should bring the beginning of Ukrainian pilots’ training on American fighter jets closer.
Background:
- In July, Ukraine signed a memorandum with 11 of its partner states at the NATO Summit in Vilnius. The memorandum defines the conditions of Ukrainian pilots’ training on the F-16s.
- The exercises should begin in August, but, according to media reports, the United States took a long time to approve the final training plan, since European states did not agree on all its details. Denmark's Defence Ministry confirmed earlier that the Ukrainian F-16 training would begin by the end of August.
- Jake Sullivan, the National Security Advisor to the President of the United States, confirmed Washington's approval for the Netherlands and Denmark to deliver F-16s to Ukraine after Ukrainian pilots complete their training.
