Zelenskyy signs law on demobilisation of military whose family members were killed or went missing
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a law on the discharge from military service of those mobilised and contract soldiers whose close relatives were killed in the war or went missing.

Details: It is noted that the bill No. 8009 on expanding the grounds for dismissal from military service of certain categories of citizens during martial law "was returned with the signature of the President of Ukraine".
The law establishes the grounds for dismissal from military service during martial law for military personnel whose close relatives, e.g. husband, wife, son, daughter, father, mother, grandfather, grandmother or sibling (full or half), were killed in the war or went missing during martial law.
Background: On 3 May 2023, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament) allowed the discharge from military service of those mobilised and contract soldiers whose close relatives were killed in the war or went missing.
