UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak discussed Ukraine's membership of NATO, among other issues, at a meeting with US President Joe Biden on 10 July.

Sunak's spokesperson stated that it would be inappropriate for Ukraine to join NATO while the war with Russia is going on, but that Sunak believes Ukraine's "rightful place" is in the Alliance.
Quote: "We want to work with the US and our allies on the pathway for Ukraine to join," the spokesperson added.
It should be remarked that Sunak has used the phrase "rightful place" before, when referring to Ukraine in NATO last month at the European Political Community summit in Chișinău.
In an official statement, the UK government reports that Sunak and Biden discussed the course of the counteroffensive in Ukraine and stressed the importance of its international partners committing to its long-term defence, "providing the support Ukraine needs to win this war and secure a just and lasting peace".
The discussion of Ukraine's NATO membership is connected with the NATO summit, which will be held in Vilnius on 11-12 July.
Earlier, Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, urged Berlin not to block Ukraine's fast-track accession to NATO.
