Quote: "All of you saw how the visit of the delegation of African countries to Ukraine went, and then the visit to the terrorist state. The delegation had the opportunity to see who is really interested in peace, and who is an embodiment of war. It was very clear.
Everything that was talked about in Ukraine was about the Peace Formula, point by point. All that was talked about in Russia was about the war, about how to destroy life further.
It is obvious that there is no alternative to the Peace Formula. It's good that the world is hearing and seeing it more and more."
Background:
- On 16 June, a delegation from Africa arrived in Ukraine, which included the presidents of the Republic of South Africa, the Comoros Islands, Senegal, Zambia, and the prime minister of Egypt, as well as special representatives of Congo and Uganda. They wanted to act as peacemakers between Russia and Ukraine, as well as increase the supply of grain and fertilisers from these two countries to their continent.
- South African President Cyril Ramaphosa named 10 main components of the African Union's position on the Ukrainian-Russian war.
- Following the meeting, Zelenskyy criticised the rhetoric of African leaders who called Russia's war against Ukraine a "conflict" or a "crisis". The president was also surprised that representatives of African countries emphasised their own grain and fertiliser crises, while avoiding the outcome of the war in Ukraine.
- On 17 June, the African delegation met with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and he said that his logic regarding the war against Ukraine is allegedly "flawless" from the point of view of international law and the UN Charter.
