Approximately 20 missiles over Kyiv – all destroyed

About 20 Russian missiles were detected in the airspace of Kyiv city – all had been destroyed by air defence systems on 26 January.

Quote: "About 20 missiles of various types were detected in the airspace of Kyiv. All air targets were destroyed. Thank you to the air defence system."

Details: Popko added that a 55-year-old man was killed as a result of falling missile parts. Two people were injured and hospitalised. Kyiv's infrastructure facilities are operating normally.

The Kyiv City Military Administration also reported that the air-raid sirens lasted until 12:08 due to the take-off of a MiG-31 fighter jet and an A-50 control aircraft in Belarus, which can carry Russian Kinzhal missiles.

  • On the morning of 26 January, the air defence system was operating in Ukraine due to a missile attack by Russians. In total, according to the Air Forces, the invaders launched more than 30 missiles at Ukraine. The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that more than 15 cruise missiles were recorded over Kyiv.
  • Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said that one person was killed and two victims were hospitalised as a result of a Russian missile attack in the Holosiivskyi district.
