39-40 attack drones and Kh-59 missile shot down over Ukraine overnight
The Ukrainian Defence Forces destroyed all 39 attack drones that were launched to attack Ukraine by Russian forces, along with 2 Orlan-10 reconnaissance UAVs and one Kh-59 air-launched guided missile, on the night of 1-2 January 2023.

Details: Anti-aircraft missile units, fighter aircraft and mobile fire groups were engaged in repelling the attack.
Equipment and weapons, supplied to Ukraine by Western partners, are getting more and more actively involved, as was pointed out by the Ukrainian Air Force.
Moreover, defenders of the sky have destroyed two Orlan-10 operational-tactical UAVs and a Kh-59 air-launched guided missile.
In addition, Klitshcko has reported, citing air defence forces, that "40 kamikaze drones were heading for Kyiv during the night, 15 were destroyed over neighbouring oblasts, 3 in Kyiv Oblast, and 22 drones over the capital."
Background: It was previously reported that, on the night of 1-2 January, 20 air targets were shot down over Kyiv, along with 9 Shahed UAVs and a Kh-59MK2 high-precision guided missile over Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, and seven Shahed-136 drones over Mykolaiv Oblast.
