Most Russian missiles shot down by Ukraine’s air defence system, energy workers restore electricity supply

During another wave of missile attacks launched by the Russians on 5 December, Ukrainian air defence forces shot down most of the missiles, and the restoration of the power supply began after the all-clear was sounded.

Background: On the afternoon of 5 December, explosions rocked many regions of Ukraine, and air defence systems were activated. 

During the eighth large-scale missile attack on Monday, 5 December, critical infrastructure facilities in Kyiv, Vinnytsia and Odesa oblasts were hit. Moreover, two infrastructure facilities in Odesa Oblast were damaged.

Air defence units shot down Russian missiles over Kyiv, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts.
