Missile strikes on 10 October: State Emergency Service says 19 dead

Nineteen people have been killed and 105 injured as a result of Russian missile strikes on Ukraine on 10 October.

Details: Currently, 301 settlements in Kyiv, Lviv, Sumy, Ternopil and Khmelnytskyi Oblasts remain without electricity,
The State Emergency Service notes that 22 power plants were drawn in to provide electricity, including 15 for health care facilities in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv oblasts, as well as 7 power plants for critical infrastructure facilities.
Previously: Late on 10 October, Ukraine’s Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyi reported that law enforcement officers had confirmed that 14 people perished and 97 more were injured due to the massive rocket attack.
Background:
- On the morning of 10 October, several explosions rang out in the centre of the capital of Ukraine. As a result of the Russian attack, 6 people were killed and 50 were injured.
- Explosions also rang out in other cities in Ukraine: Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr and Lviv.
- On the morning of 10 October, Russian troops used 84 cruise missiles and 24 unmanned aerial vehicles against peaceful cities in Ukraine.
- Aleksandr Lukashenko, the self-proclaimed President of Belarus, has announced that Russia and Belarus had agreed to deploy a joint regional force.
- Operational Command Pivnich (North) reported that there have been no breakthroughs of the state border or any offensive actions by Russia or Belarus in Ukraine’s North.
